How to Properly Clean and Care for Your Makeup Brushes

Keeping your brushes clean is essential for both makeup performance and skin health. Dirty brushes can accumulate bacteria, oils, and product residue, which can lead to blemishes and uneven application.

Foundation and concealer brushes should ideally be cleaned once a week, as cream products tend to build up quickly in the bristles. Powder brushes can be cleaned less frequently, but should still be washed regularly.

To clean them properly, rinse the bristles with lukewarm water, avoiding getting the handle and metal ferrule wet. Apply a brush cleaner or a mild soap and massage the bristles until all residue is removed.

After rinsing thoroughly, gently squeeze out excess water and reshape the brush. Brushes should always be dried horizontally to prevent water from loosening the internal adhesive.

Proper maintenance extends the lifespan of your makeup tools and ensures smoother application and better blending. Furthermore, clean brushes help makeup look fresher, more even, and professional.

Taking the time to care for your brushes is a fundamental part of any beauty routine.
